Hi all, this just popped up while I was cooking, I nearly forgot
about it. But a while ago, I listened to the song I'm gonna make you
feel good from the Come Closer album, and suddenly I thought there
was a mistake in the lyrics. Not an English mistake, but a logical
mistake...the story does not make sense.
Here is what I thought, and I wonder if you all agree with me.

Now before I describe the problem of the song, I like the song a
lot, let me say that at the beginning. Because the song has a story,
it comes with vivid images that you can imagine very well. Unlike
Touch or other songs which are very abstract and vague...this song
tells a real story.

I think the story is something like this: it is about wanting to
have sex even if you don't really have the time, you just make the
time. That's good. Don't get destracted, by phones or dripping taps,
just go with the flow... That's the first verse, it brings the mind
set of the story. Okay, you all with me?
Now, the second verse brings the setting of the story a bit clearer.
It seems he does not want to go to work today, and he wants his
girlfriend to stay at home too. She has to call in, pretend to be
ill, like skipping school. Okay so we picture this early in the
morning, and they do not go to work but they are going to have sex...

And here is where the story starts to contradict already.

Because THEN he says, the only kind of stress is whould we both
undress...undress? I thought they just got out of bed? So
apparently, they got up in the morning, took a shower maybe, had
breakfast even and then suddenly he changes his mind and decides
they are not going to work today but instead they are going to have
sex...

Okay that is still possible...a bit weird, to wake up first, get out
of bed, get dressed, have breakfast and THEN decide to have sex. But
I say it is still possible.

Third verse is when things are coming apart. Pull the shades...okay
it maybe very light outside...let;s create some romance and pull the
shades...but they will still do it with the lights on. So they pull
the shades and put the lights on, a bit waste of enegry if it is
light outside but maybe they want some privacy (for paparazzi maybe,
who knows)

and then....I can't believe this...show me what you've got TONIGHT!!!

WHAAAATTTT???
So they both had evening jobs?
No, can't be, because he said, I don't wanna go to work today, he
did not say, I don't wanna go to work this afternoon, or this
evening...

So what do you all say...is this a messed up story or what?

love, Inge

PS Lyrics not written by Tarkan, but by Pete Boxta Martin

Well i can't find another explanation..
1. He is dreaming about having sex till the coming night. Lol he's one horny son of a b**** :28:
2. It is already night and they are still having sex, if we bear in mind that there is a climax in the song and the day is about the end like the song itself is. :9:

Hmm, that's interesting. I didn't really checked the lyrics that much.
You know there are many other songs in the music business which aren't really logical.
Tarkan worked for this album for almost 10 years and I think they would have noticed such a logical mistake. Maybe they have an explanation for that.
But one could interpret it also as a mistake. It would have been nicer if they had payed attention because native speakers will notice this mistake perhaps easier. That's not good for the re-release. Maybe they will change the lyrics. I hope so....

I think it is just a mistake, because so many songs you can just sing, "show me what you got tonight"....only here you can't. They just did not think of it.

But they did not work on this album for ten years. The album made with Atlantic records is not the same as Come Closer. That album was just never released. It had a different style and songs with names as "If you go now" and "Walking on broken glass". It is another record company. After the disagreement with Ahmet San, the album stayed on the shelf with Atlantic.

The Come Closer is a product of Universal Records and they started working on it in 2003 or 2004. It took them two years to make, that is what Tarkan said in an interview.

So yes the idea of an English album is old, but these songs are very new.

inge, you look right.I ve just understand the story.where is Pete from?
I haven't heard that Tarkan changed his album completely in 2003.if this is true, tarkan had at least 10-15 songs that he didn't sing in his albüm.I wonder what these songs are.Maybe we can hear one day them hopefuly.by the way thank you for your notice and sharing it with us:20:

No I don't think we can hear those English songs from 1996-1997.
They were recorded in the Atlantic records studio. They are not Tarkan's but they belong to Atlantic records. (Yani tarkaná ait degil bu sarkilari).

They did not change the album. The Come Closer album is a new project started with Universal. They started with nothing. Just Tarkan and song writers from Universal.

I tried to find the old songs on youtube but I can't find it anymore...sorry
