Pop star Tarkan detained on charges of using illegal drugs
In an operation conducted in İstanbul, narcotic teams detained several individuals, including Turkish pop singer Tarkan, for using illegal drugs on late Thursday.
Among those detained are important figures from the art and magazine world.
A full scale investigation is underway in İstanbul.
Tarkan Tevetoğlu (born 17 October 1972 in Alzey, Germany), popularly known as Tarkan, is a World Music award winning German-born Turkish pop singer. He was born in Germany and raised in Turkey. Tarkan has been known for the use of sexual and romantic themes in his work and has been nicknamed the "Prince of Pop" by the media.
He has released several platinum-selling albums during his career, with an estimated 19 million albums sold. He also produces music through his company HITT Music, which he established in February 1997. One of a few European singers that has managed to span chart success over three continents without singing in English, the artist is also noted for his live stage performances. Tarkan's effect on Turkey has been compared by The Washington Post as analogous to Elvis in America circa 1957 and Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegün described him as one of the best live performers he had ever seen. He has also been listed by Rhapsody as a key artist in the history of European pop music, with his signature song "Simarik" as a keystone track that moved the genre forward.

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Turkey's state-run news agency says police have detained Tarkan, Turkey's best-known pop star who makes top music charts worldwide, along with some other entertainers in Istanbul.
The Anatolia news agency says Tarkan, who only uses one name, was detained in a police raid early Friday. Police is questioning him and the others. No charges have been filed.
Tarkan has been the chart-topping Turkish pop star for more than a decade in Turkey and Europe since he has sold millions of records in Turkey and his catchy Arabic-influenced tune ''Simarik'' --''Spoiled'' -- reached the top of music charts in France, in 1998.
Turkish police often carry out drug operations in Istanbul. Turkey is a transit point for drugs between the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

Police reportedly found and seized a small amount of hashish at the pop star's country home in the Omerli district near Istanbul, the agency said.
It was not clear if Tarkan was detained at his home or elsewhere.

Stop telling me what I have to do... Collection means to collect all informations about a person/thing. That's why we call us TarkanColl. It's up to you if you want to believe in it or not... the same is true of for the Turkish section. There you can see the same structure.

the whole case made us sick..and in this time we have to made it an issue for a public opinion..some people must get a hard lesson in order not to touch Tarkan again..and his fans get a big responsibility in this case ..add his management too by connecting the media
and it most last more than his arrested time ...
